Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

A history professor beheaded by a stranger in French on Friday (10/16), local time. The high school teacher had a discussion about cartoons Nabi muhammad with their pupils.

The terrible incident occurred in the small town of Conflans-Sainte-Honorin in the Val d’Oise region, northwest of Paris. The author was shot and killed by the police some 600 meters from the place of beheading.

Reported The Associated Press, The French Antiterrorist Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into the homicides considering the alleged terrorist motive behind the attack.

A police officer told the AP he described the perpetrators armed with knives and air pistols. Before the shooting, the perpetrators did not respond to a request to lay down their arms and act threateningly.

The official revealed that the teacher received threats after opening a discussion about cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad at the school.

“The teacher was threatened after opening a discussion ‘to discuss’ about the cartoon (of the Prophet Muhammad) about 10 days ago,” said the police officer, who was not identified because he was not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.

The police officer said the parents had complained against the teacher. However, the police confirmed that the perpetrator had no children attending school there. The identity of the author himself was not published.

“We didn’t think this would happen,” Conflans resident Remi Tell told local television channel CNews TV.

Tell believes that his city is a city of peace.

Reported AFP, a police source said the perpetrator yelled “Allahu Akbar” when confronted.

That same day, President Emmanuel Macron visited the scene of the incident. He called the attack an “act of Islamic terror.”

He also guaranteed that France was ready to defend teachers. Furthermore, he declared that “obscurantism will not prevail.”
