It is not only the prison that awaits the TNI soldiers who attacked the Ciracas police in East Jakarta. Dismissal pending the obligation of compensation.

This was explained by the Army Chief of Staff, General Andika Perkasa, at a press conference at the Indonesian Army Headquarters, in central Jakarta, on Sunday (8/30/2020). He said that there were 12 members of the Indonesian Army who had been questioned about the attack on the Ciracas Police, while 19 others would be summoned.

Andika doesn’t want the perpetrators to just surrender, be prosecuted, so that’s it. According to him, there should be additional punishment for those soldiers who have tarnished the good name of the TNI.

The following are additional sentences prepared by the Army Chief of Staff for the perpetrators:

Dismissal

Andika said that all the TNI soldiers who were questioned would be charged under different articles. However, whatever their role, those responsible will continue to be fired from TNI.

“So, in addition to the criminal articles that are violated by each one and these will be different from each other, we will also give additional penalties to all of them, that is, dismissal,” Andika said.

“It is better if we lose 31 or any soldiers involved, regardless of their role, than the TNI name. The Army will continue to be damaged by irresponsible behavior and will in no way reflect the oath that soldiers took when they became soldiers.” Indonesian Army, “he continued.
