Losail –
Pramac Ducati controls the Doha MotoGP 2021 qualifying session. Two of the riders are in first position with Jorge Martín’s pole position.
In the qualifying session held at the Losail circuit on Sunday (4/4/2021), world champion Joan Mir had to start again from Q1 and could qualify for Q2 with Miguel Oliveira from KTM Racing.
Entering the Q2 session, the riders prepared their bikes as best they could to record the fastest time. Jorge Martín stepped on the accelerator immediately at the start of the Q2 session by posting the best time followed by Fabio Quartararo and Aleix Espargaró.
Yamaha rider Maverick Viñales improved his position from ninth to first with just under five minutes of qualifying remaining. Viñales continued to refine his timeline.
Unfortunately, Pramac Ducati was too fast in this session and Jorge Martín broke the record for the fastest time to secure pole position. Surprisingly, Jorge Martín took pole by getting rid of his teammate Johann Zarco.
For Martin, this is his first pole in the MotoGP debut race this season, with a time of 1 minute 53.106 seconds, 0.025 seconds ahead of Zarco in second place. Viñales in third place has 1 minute 53.267 seconds.
Official Ducati rider Jack Miller had to settle for starting from fourth followed by Fabio Quartararo. The top 10 are completed by Francesco Bagnaia, Aleix Espargaró, Alex Rins, Joan Mir and Franco Morbidelli.
Valentino Rossi had a poor performance in the qualifying session, having to start from 21st position in the race on Monday (5/4/2021) early tomorrow morning at the WIB. Can the Petronas Yamaha rider score?
