Praise and criticism of Shin Tae-yong after Indonesian under-19 team defeats Qatar

KOMPAS.com – Shin Tae-yong saw the positives and negatives of the Indonesian U19 team’s victory over Qatar last night.

The Indonesian under-19 team reaped positive results in their fourth test match during training camp (TC) in Croatia.

Garuda Muda beat Qatar 2-1 at SRC Mladost Stadium, Cakovec, Croatia on Thursday (9/17/2020).

The U-19 team finished in first place thanks to a Qatari goal by Jassim Al-Mehairi in the 12th minute.

However, he was able to respond with two goals through Brylian Aldama (17 ‘-p) and Mochamad Supriadi (84’).

After the competition, Shin Tae-yong thanked his players for their victory in this match.

The South Korean coach appreciated that the presence of the Indonesian U19 team is increasing, although there is still something to be addressed.

“I’m glad that I was able to beat Qatar even though we were behind first. The players worked hard and never gave up during the match,” Shin Tae-yong said, as quoted on the PSSI website.

“Even so, the team still has deficiencies such as the defense of opposing players, the defense of positions, etc. That is what we must polish to improve,” he added.

This is the first victory for Shin Tae-yong’s fleet while living in Croatia to undergo TC.

Previously, the U19 team had three competitive matches in the format of the U19 2020 International Friendly Tournament.

In these three games, the Indonesian U19 team only got one draw and the rest lost.

The U19 team surrendered to Bulgaria (0-3) and Croatia (1-7). While the tie was obtained against Saudi Arabia (3-3).

Following this, the Indonesian U19 team will continue testing against Qatar on Sunday (9/20/2020), before serving Bosnia and Herzegovina (9/25/2020), and Dinamo Zagreb three days later.
