Pollycarpus Budihari Prijanto passed away this afternoon. The person who was convicted in the murder case of human rights activist Munir Said Thalib, died positive for the Corona virus (COVID-19).
Pollycarpus’s former attorney, Wirawan Adnan, received word from the man’s wife who is a pilot. Pollycarpus is said to have died after battling COVID for more than 2 weeks.
“He died from COVID-19, from Mbak Hera, his wife. Ms Hera said that (Pollycarpus) died after fighting COVID-19 for 16 days,” Wirawan explained when contacted on Saturday (17 / 10/2020).
Pollycarpus died this afternoon in RSPP, Jakarta. The body is expected to be buried immediately.
“I told Mbak Hera before, I can’t cry if (I die) from COVID,” Wirawan said.
Previously reported, the Party’s General Secretary Berkarya Badaruddin Andi Picunang confirmed the news of Pollycarpus’s death.
“I just confirmed it to a doctor friend of the RSPP, it is true that he has preceded us. Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rajiun,” Picunang said.
Picunang admitted that his last encounter with Pollycarpus was last August during the Berkarya Party Working Meeting in Surabaya. According to him, Pollycarpus has recently been involved in the distribution of herbal medicines for the Corona virus.
“He is active in anti-COVID-19 herbal medicine. He is our great family in Berkarya. Please pray that the deceased will be accepted by his side and apologize when there is a mistake. He is a good person,” Picunang said.
Pollycarpus is a former Garuda Indonesia airline pilot who was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being found guilty in the case of Munir’s death on September 7, 2004. After serving 8 years in detention, he was released on parole since on November 28, 2014.
There was not much news about him after he was released from Sukamiskin prison. Polly was declared pure free on August 29, 2018.
