Polda Metro Jaya will prevent workers and the public who want to demonstrate from rejecting the Omnibus Copyright Law (RUU Ciptaker) in the MPR / DPR Building from the point of departure of their departure.
The head of Polda Metro Jaya’s Public Relations Division, Kombes Yusri Yunus, said that police did not issue permits for demonstrations during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
“In each region we have also transmitted that we are going to dissolve the areas that want to leave. We have told them not to come here (MPR / DPR),” Yusri said when confirmed, on Monday (5/10).
Yusri said that the measures taken by his party were a form of preventive and preventive measures. He claimed that his party would also be humanist in providing explanations to the public.
However, Yusri claimed that his party would hold patrols if the public wanted to hold a demonstration amid the Covid-10 pandemic.
“We did patrols, we met them, we all asked them to go home,” he said.
Additionally, Yusri said that today his party is still anticipating action to reject the Ciptaker bill in the MPR / DPR building. About 9,346 people were deployed. These personnel will patrol to ask protesters not to demonstrate amid the pandemic.
Yusri argued that the crowd permit could not be granted considering that he is currently still in the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The DKI Jakarta region is currently implementing a large-scale social restriction policy (PSBB).
“With the Jakarta PSBB conditions, so no permission is given to express opinions in public, especially in front of the DPR today,” he said.
Several unions will hold a nationwide strike from October 6-8 to reject the approval of the Ciptaker bill.
The president of the Congress of the Indonesian Trade Union Alliance (KASBI), Nining Elitos, said that demonstrations will take place in various regions of Indonesia. The climax of the action will take place in front of the MPR / DPR building on Thursday, October 8.
“We will decide on October 6, 7, 8 that we will carry out actions in various regions, the climax is October 8 in the Indonesian Parliament,” Nining said at an online press conference on Sunday (4/10 ).
DPR and the government have completed discussion of the Ciptaker Bill at Level I in the Body of Legislation (Baleg) on Saturday night (March 10). Seven factions, PDIP, Golkar Gerindra, PKB, NasDem, PAN, PPP agreed that the bill was taken to the plenary level, while two factions, Democrat and PKS, refused.
Despite being rejected by two factions, the Ciptaker bill will still go to plenary on October 8 for ratification.
