The West Java police are investigating the possibility of “orders from certain parties” in the case of “call to jihad” by changing the pronunciation of the call to prayer posted on social media.

The accusation was based on the “call to jihad” through the simultaneous call to prayer, said a West Java Regional Police official, as reported by journalist in Bandung, Yulia Saputra for BBC News Indonesia.

“This is being explored again, because what we are concerned about in a day at the same time (video call to prayer) is in West Java and other areas. Well of course West Java will focus on investigating who ordered and who turned viral, “said West Java Regional Police Chief Kombes Pol. Erdi Adrimulan Chaniago, Friday (04/12).

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had arrested at least two people who allegedly switched and spread the call for prayer from ‘hayya’lash sholah’ to ‘hayya alal jihad’.

They are considered to have caused hatred or enmity in society.

According to a statement from one of the suspects, Polda Metro Jaya claimed that they claimed to have received the video call to prayer containing the ‘call to jihad’ from the WhatsApp Muslim Cyber One Forum (FMCO News) group.

Regarding this recognition, the West Java Regional Police admitted that they are “still in depth,” Erdi said. So far, the Majalengka police have examined seven alleged perpetrators of the “call to prayer”.

“Investigators will also find out if someone ordered them to do it, check their cell phones, etc. So wait a minute,” Erdi added. Seven people suspected of reciting the ‘jihad call to prayer have reportedly apologized.

Erdi added that the police paid special attention to who was the first to viralize the video. Several people have been summoned for the exams scheduled for next week.

“So once again, investigators from the West Java Regional Police and investigators from the Majalengka Police will investigate who did the virtualization and who ordered it. This has special attention from the West Java Regional Police,” he said. Erdi.

MUI: Azan cannot be changed

Meanwhile, West Java Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Chairman Rachmat Syafe’i said the call to prayer should not be changed, because it violates sharia.

“It cannot (be changed). The text of the call to prayer cannot be changed like this. Even though it is for any call to prayer, including war, storm or birth, the text is still like the call to prayer that invites prayer, “said Rachmat.

“The law has violated the provisions of Sharia,” Rachmat said when contacted by journalists in Bandung, Yulia Saputra for BBC News Indonesia, by phone on Friday (04/12).

The call to prayer that turned into an invitation to jihad, Rachmat said, was irrelevant to current conditions in Indonesia.

“It’s very irrelevant. So in terms of content, it’s irrelevant, it even creates a shock,” he said.

For this reason, Rachmat admitted that he supported the police efforts to investigate the case.
