YAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Chief of the Criminal Acts Sub-Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Commissioner of the National Police, John W Hutagalung, said that the Task Force against Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) was examining 14 crew members (ABK) of the Indonesian boats Long Xin 629.
The 14 men were questioned as witnesses related to the banning of three crews and the suspicion of exploitation.

John said all examined crew members were confirmed to be in good health and had been isolated for 14 days in South Korea.
However, the Bareskrim TPPO Task Force team continued to examine witnesses using the Covid-19 health protocol.
“We will continue to verify the anticipation of Covid-19 with researchers wearing PPE and glass helmets,” he said.
John said that in the review, investigators would clarify the process so that 14 ABKs can work abroad. Police also tracked the distribution company and how the procedures were implemented.
In addition, the Task Force also explored ABK’s activities while working on the Long Xin 629 ship to track suspected exploitation or TPPO.
“In addition to his testimony of whether there was exploitation / TPPO while on the ship, for example, in relation to working hours, wages, threats, insurance and others,” he said.
John said that, after examination of witnesses, the next step, the Task Force would coordinate with relevant agencies, including Interpol, if a suspect was found abroad.
