JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Polda Metro Jaya’s Special Criminal Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) arrested a person with the initials H for allegedly distributing a video calling for jihad in a call to prayer that went viral on social media.
H was arrested in the Cakung area, East Jakarta, on Thursday (3/12/2020).
Polda Metro Jaya’s head of Public Relations, Kombes Yusri Yunus, said that H’s arrest began with public reports about the circulation of a video that was deemed to have caused a commotion.
“Suspect H is distributing a video that abounds today on social media where the disclosure of the call to prayer has been changed. Hayya’lash sholah becomes hayya alal jihad,” Yusri told Polda Metro Jaya on Thursday.

Yusri explained that the suspect distributed the video massively through his personal Instagram account @hashophasan.
“Then an inspection was made and it is true that the account belongs to H’s own brother,” Yusri said.
According to the results of the examination, H was recorded as working as a document courier for a private freight forwarding company in Jakarta.
Until now, the police continue to delve into the reason for the dissemination of videos of H that appear to be an invitation to jihad against the enemy.
The suspect is a suspect of article 28 of June of article 45 of the Normor Law 19 of 2019 on the modification of number 18 of 2008 on the threat of ITE of six years in prison.

Kalla scores poorly
The President General of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), Jusuf Kalla, previously stressed that the call for jihad added to the call for prayer is wrong and should not be done in the mosque.
“Azan hayya alal jihad is wrong, it must be fixed. DMI officially declares it rejects such matters,” he said, in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/01/2020), as quoted. Between.
He explained that jihad should not be understood as a negative context for committing acts of violence in the name of Islam.
“Jihad does not always have a negative meaning because seeking knowledge or accusing it can also be interpreted as jihad. So if jihad is wanted, it can be done by seeking knowledge or accusing,” he said.
Kalla stressed that mosques should not be used as a place to spread radical teachings and invite clashes between religious believers.
“The mosque should not be used as a place for activities that encourage opposition,” said the former vice president.

Kalla delivered the message during a virtual meeting with DMI administrators and youth mosques across Indonesia from DMI’s Jakarta office on Tuesday.
For all mosque administrators in the regions, Kalla reminded the DMI regulations and principles that mosques should not be used as campaign venues.
“We have to protect the mosque, we must not bring the problem of different options to the mosque,” said Kalla.
Regarding the video on the call to jihad in the call to prayer, Kalla emphasized that this was wrong.
The call for jihad must be addressed as something that means something good, not as an invitation to commit violence in the name of Islam.
“Jihad should not be used as a call to kill, bomb or kill each other, because it could lead to acts of terror like the one that recently occurred in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi,” said Kalla.
Irrelevant
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Saadi said it was irrelevant whether the jihad war was linked to the current situation in Indonesia.
“If the call is intended to deliver a message of war, it is clearly irrelevant. Jihad in a peaceful country like Indonesia cannot be interpreted as war,” Zainut said.
He has not been able to conclude the meaning of adhan’s viral content. If you intend to convey a message of war in Indonesia, then it is irrelevant because the situation is currently peaceful.
To that end, the Deputy Minister of Religion invited the leaders of Islamic organizations and ulama to be able to provide enlightenment to the public so that they do not get caught up in the textual interpretation without understanding the context of the verses of the Al Quran or Al Hadith.
Understanding religion that is only based on textuality, he said, can lead to a narrow and extreme understanding of religion.
Whatever the reason, video can potentially cause a misperception in society.
“This is where the importance of the leadership of the Islamic mass organizations, ulama and kiai arises to provide enlightenment so that people have a comprehensive understanding of religion,” he said.
In addressing this issue, Zainut called on each party to exercise restraint, to take a persuasive and dialogical approach to avoid acts of violence and against the law.
