Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested seven members of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) who were standing guard outside Rizieq Shihab’s residence in Jalan Petamburan III, Central Jakarta.
This was done after the government declared the FPI to be a banned organization and it had to be disbanded immediately.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Heru Novianto stated that the arrests of the seven FPI members were carried out to ensure that there were no further activities at the FPI Secretariat or at Habib Rizieq Shihab’s residence, because the FPI mass organizations had been designated as prohibited organizations.
“We insured these seven young people and took them to Polda Metro Jaya,” he said, on Tuesday (12/30/2020).
Heru emphasized that now the police no longer need to send notification letters to the FPI mass organizations to dissolve all activities or stop the FPI banners, because these organizations have become banned organizations.
“There are no more activities or attributes. We also don’t need to send notifications because this mass organization has been declared banned by the government,” Heru said.
Previously, the joint TNI-Polri and Satpol PP team curbed all the attributes that FPI Ormas carry along Jalan Petamburan in central Jakarta.
