Police arrest 200 people in Jakarta for a demonstration of the Omnibus Law

Head of public relations Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said so far 200 people obtained in connection with the action plan to protest against the Omnibus Law on Job Creation in the DPR Building.

“There are about 200 more people suspected of being anarcho trying to join the demonstration in front of the DPR building,” Yusri told Polda Metro Jaya, on Wednesday (7/10).

Yusri said that hundreds of people were detained in various regions. Among others, in West Jakarta and Central Jakarta. From the results of the examination, they received information about the invitation to demonstrate on social networks.


“I received information that an invitation to hold a demonstration at the DPR building was circulating on social media,” he said.

In addition to the examinations, hundreds of people also underwent medical examinations in the form of Quick test. This is to check if they are exposed to the corona virus or not.

Yusri revealed that of the 200 people, 90 had already undergone a rapid test. As a result, there were 12 people who indicated they were exposed to Covid -19.

“12 people were brought to Polda Metro Jaya for a swab test to those interested. God willing, while the plan is to temporarily isolate themselves while waiting for the swab results,” he said.

In addition, Yusri said that if of the 12 people who were positively exposed to Covid-19, they would be quarantined in the quarantine area in Pademangan, in North Jakarta.
