jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Polda Metro Jaya arrested and named 20 suspects in the vandalism and burning of various public facilities, such as the TransJakarta bus stop, during a rampant demonstration against the Omnibus Law in Jakarta a few days ago.
“The latest development of Polda Metro Jaya has arrested 20 suspected of destroying bus stops, public facilities and police posts along Jalan Jenderal Sudirman,” Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector Nana Sudjana said on Monday in Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters.
Overall, Polda Metro Jaya has named up to 131 suspects in the riots of October 8, 2020 and October 13, 2020. Of these 131 people, 69 have been arrested, 20 of them burners of public facilities.
“So far, Polda Metro Jaya has named 131 people as suspects, then up to 69 have been arrested,” he said.
Then, in accordance with health protocols, Polda Metro Jaya officers conducted a quick test of the rioters who were insured and found some people with reactive COVID-19.
“The results of yesterday’s exam were that we ran a quick test on some of the secured protesters. First, 36 were reactive, secondly 47 were reactive, so many,” he said.
Rioters who are reactive to COVID-19 are currently in quarantine at an isolation facility in Pademangan, north Jakarta, for a swab test.
Nana explained that the suspects were dominated by students. Aside from the students, the other suspects came from students and the unemployed.
