Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

The head of DKI Jakarta’s National Unity and Policy Agency (Kesbangpol), Taufan Bakrie, said that the decision on the use of the National Monument area (Monas) For the event meeting 212 in the hands of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan. At present, he said, no decision has been made on the matter.

“Only politics, we cannot decide,” Taufan said when contacted on Tuesday (11/17).

Taufan said his party was unable to make a decision or provide recommendations to Anies regarding plans for Alumni Association 212 (PA 212) regarding plans for a meeting in Monas. However, Taufan claimed to have reminded Anies that there is Governor Regulation Number 80 of 2020 on Large-Scale Transitional Social Restrictions (PSBB).

In article 4, paragraph (4), the regulation establishes that public areas and other places that can cause crowds remain limited.

“It is not a recommendation that simply reminds us that there is a Governor’s Regulation and that Monas is still closed to the public,” he said.

Contacted separately, DKI Jakarta Ombudsman Representative Teguh Nugroho reminded Anies that he could not easily give permission to use Monas for meeting 212. Also, if the event involved a large number of people.

“Obviously, the governor cannot easily give permission to use Monas for meetings or any event that involves a large number of masses,” Teguh said.

According to him, Anies as governor must prioritize the protection of public health. He also asked Anies to coordinate the 212 meeting plan in Monas with the central government.

“This is part of the general public service to protect public health,” Teguh said.

“The governor and the central government should have determined preventive measures from the beginning in this matter, because the problem is transprovincial, although the event is held in Monas, in Jakarta,” he added.

Meeting 212 has been featured since Rizieq Shihab’s return to Indonesia on November 10. The plan received criticism from various circles because it was carried out during the corona virus pandemic.

However, PA 212 President Bernard Abdul Jabbar is adamant about the plan to hold a 212 meeting in Monas. He argued that if implemented, the 212th Meeting would be held in accordance with health protocols.
