Leicester –
Leicester City temporarily controls the top of the 2020/2021 Premier League standings after defeating Wolverhampton 1-0. Jamie Vardy scores from the penalty spot.
At the week eight match held at the King Power Stadium on Sunday (11/8/2020) WIB night, Leicester appeared in full gear with Jamie Vardy and James Maddison on the attack line with Dennis Praet.
Both teams control 50 percent of ball possession, but Leicester was more effective with 10 attempts, three on target. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton has seven attempts with two on target.
The deadlock was broken in the 15th minute when Max Kilman touched Praet’s cross with his hand. Vardy as executor successfully fulfilled his duty of leading Leicester to a 1-0 lead.
Leicester received another penalty in the 38th minute when James Justin was fouled by Rayan Ait Nouri. This started with Ait Nouri’s mistake in controlling the ball so Justin could catch it.
The referee had time to see the VAR because there was an offside indication prior to the infraction. However, the penalty continued despite the fact that Vardy did not complete it because his shot was blocked by Rui Patricio.
This is Leicester’s first penalty in eight missed chances this season. The 1-0 lasted until the first half ended.
In the second half, the Wolves tried to catch up, but several attempts were unsuccessful. A golden opportunity was obtained by Rubén Neves in the 77th minute.
A powerful shot is launched into the corner of the net and the ball looks likely to go into the net, before Kasper Schmeichel quickly rejects it. Until the end of the Leicester vs Wolverhampton match, the hosts’ victory lasted.
An additional three points put Leicester temporarily at the top of the Premier League standings with 18 points out of eight, one point ahead of second-placed Tottenham. Wolves are eighth with 13 points.
