Solna –
Cristiano Ronaldo marked a milestone for the Portuguese team by scoring 101 goals. The Brazilian legend, Pelé, was amazed to see him.
Ronaldo today bought his 100th and 101st goals for the Portuguese team. CR7 did it when Portugal played Sweden in the continuous phase of the UEFA Nations League Group.
Playing at the Friends Arena, Solna, Wednesday (9/9/2020) WIB early morning, Ronaldo scored two goals in the 44th and 71st minutes, in a 2-0 win Selection of Quinas. The two goals made Ronaldo a personal record.
The former Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United and Real Madrid player is the second most fertile player internationally, after Ali Daei, the legend of the Iranian team who has a record of 108 goals. Furthermore, Ronaldo became the first player in Europe to reach 100 goals for the national team.
Pelé, a living legend of the Brazilian team, praised Ronaldo. He was even surprised that his prediction had failed that Ronaldo not only scored 100 goals, but 101 goals.
“I thought we were going to celebrate 100 goals today, but it was 101! Congratulations @Cristiano once you’ve reached new heights on your journey,” tweeted Pelé’s official Twitter account.
Pelé himself has a record of 77 goals for the Brazilian national team, and was the man who led the Samba Team to win the World Cup three times. Meanwhile, Ronaldo himself has never led Portugal to victory in the event, only winning the European Cup and the UEFA Nations League.
Ronaldo only needs seven more goals to match Ali Daei’s record. Given that the competition is still long, it is not impossible for the striker who currently plays for Juventus to exceed his record.
