Persik Kediri managed to beat Madura United 2-1 in the continued Group C match of the 2021 Menpora Cup at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung, on Saturday (3/4) WIB afternoon.

In the first half, Madura United became the team that dominated the game. Beto Goncalves and Bruno Lopes took advantage of the opportunities, but still couldn’t excite Peach’s goal.

On the other hand, Peach plays more defensively. Joko Susilo’s team chose to rely on counterattacks to surprise Madura United, who were superior in terms of individual player quality.

As a result, the match was tight and the score in a goalless draw did not change until the first half was over.

In the second half, Madura United won 1-0 in the 51st minute. An infringement by Amin Fisabillah that pushed Bruno Lopes into the penalty area resulted in referee Thoriq Alkatiri awarding a penalty.

The penalty kick is executed by Beto Goncalves. The naturalized player’s shot in the right corner of the goal managed to outwit Persik’s goalkeeper, Dian Agus Prasetyo.

The game became even fiercer after Beto’s goal. Persik was not silent and the error of Madura United’s right-back Marckho Meraudje, who violated Faris Aditama in the 16 area, only earned him a penalty.

The captain of the team, Andri Ibo, came forward as the executor of the penalty. Andri Ibo’s shot successfully broke Madura United’s net to make it 1-1 in the 71st minute.

Eight minutes later, Persik unexpectedly took a 2-1 lead. Substitute Antoni Putro Nugroho scored a beautiful goal with a strong shot from a tight angle that M. Ridwan couldn’t stop.

At 1-2, Madura United was more intense in applying pressure. However, many chances Laskar Sapeh Kerab had did not result in goals and the final score of 2-1 for Persik’s victory did not change.
