The order of the Commander of the Jaya Regional Military Command (Pangdam Jaya) Major General Dudung Abdurachman for his soldiers to remove the billboards from Habib Rizieq was controversial. However, Dudung was not on the loose even though he faced many controversies.

Critical voices came from politicians. The Vice Chairman of Commission I of the Gerindra Party faction, Bambang Kristiono, called on TNI to return to its main functions. The task of lowering billboards does not belong to TNI, but to Satpol PP.

“There are other institutions that have more authority to put this in order,” the vice chairman of Commission I of the Gerindra Bambang Kristiono faction of the Party, told reporters on Friday (11/20).

PKS also has the same attitude. PKS DPR Commission I Vice Chairman Abdul Kharis Almasyhari suggested that the issue of billboard removal should be left to Satpol PP alone. TNI does not need to step in to complete the job.

“The billboards are part of Satpol PP, which is Satpol PP’s business. For example, it is fine if the army is involved, but by its nature help is requested,” he said when contacted on Friday (11/20).

Major General Dudung is not afraid. He argued that the military could not cope with this condition. The military must move, not stand idly by.

“Yes, if you agree to your role, expecting threats from outside, when will it work? Will you keep quiet?” Dudung told detikcom, Saturday (11/21).

In addition, Major General Dudung said that the Satpol PP and the police did not dare to act, so the military intervened:
