Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government currently has 3 million doses of Sinovac’s Covid-19 vaccine. Everything is already in the distribution stage to all regions of Indonesia.
However, the vaccine cannot be injected into the public because it is still awaiting the results of the safety test from the Food and Drug Supervision Agency (BPOM) and the halal test from the Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI).
BPOM Director Penny Lukito said the follow-up testing process is currently in its final stages. If there are no obstacles, it can be resolved in a matter of days.
“Currently, BPOM is in the process of evaluating the synovac vaccine data that will be completed in the next few days,” he said at a press conference for the signing of the GAVI COVAX Facility vaccination form virtually, on Thursday (1 / 7/2021).
He continued, when the quality, safety and efficacy testing process was completed, the vaccine could be immediately injected into the public. This means that if the test is completed in a few days, the vaccination can be done immediately.
“Then (the permit) can be issued immediately,” he said.
Penny continued, her party will also strictly ensure the safety, quality and efficacy of vaccines before they are distributed to the public. The tests are carried out on a scientific basis, referring to the WHO and drug policies of other countries.
“BPOM will also involve experts to issue emergency permits in this pandemic situation,” he added.
