Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Chinese government banned a number of Indonesian seafood exporters after their product packaging was found to be contaminated with the corona virus (Covid-19).
In a statement, China’s Customs Office will stop imports of PT Puri Indah for a week after finding virus particles with the official name SARS-CoV-2 in frozen oxtail packaging.
However, to date, North Sumatra-based PT Puri Indah has not issued a statement and did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Since the outbreak of this outbreak, Chinese authorities have been investigating imported meat, seafood, packaging, and packaging as potential sources of Covid-19 since June after repeatedly finding traces of the pathogen.
Six of the more than 500,000 samples tested positive for the coronavirus, customs said in early September, Bloomberg reported.
In addition to Indonesia, China has previously banned imports of products including frozen meat and shrimp from Ecuador, as well as chicken wings from Brazil after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Although the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says there is no evidence that Covid-19 can be transmitted through food or food packaging, researchers in China have found the coronavirus in cold salmon that may have been infectious for more than a week.
In addition to the corona virus, the Chinese Customs Office must also deal with African swine flu (ASF) and avian influenza transmitted through pigs and poultry that are potentially dangerous but not necessarily fatal, Tech reported Times.
Despite being declared contagious for more than a week, there is still no update on the exact plan for China’s ban on seafood imports from Indonesian companies.
