JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The military observer Susaningtyas Nefo Handayani Kertopati also responded to the action of TNI members who removed a banner with an image of the leader of the mass organization of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) Rizieq Shihab.

The woman who is familiarly called Nuning evaluated that TNI could help the duties of the regional government (Pemda) or the police to maintain security and order in society and the state.

“The duties of TNIs in the defense sector according to their tusi (duties and functions) can be carried out in accordance with Law Number 34 of 2004 on TNI, in addition to the war operations that we call OMSP (operations military other than war), “Nuning said when contacted on Saturday. In addition, Nuning said that the existence of the banner violated regional regulations (perda) because it did not have an installation permit.

“The posters, billboards and billboards are regulated in the DKI Jakarta Regional Regulation Number 9 of 2014 on the Implementation of Advertising. All are regulated so as not to harm aesthetics, ethics and legal certainty in DKI,” he said.

That is why, Nuning said, TNI’s move to lower billboards bearing Rizieq’s image was a form of assistance to authorized officials, in this case the Satpol PP, especially if the installed billboards could cause division in Indonesian society.

“This is a law enforcement framework. It must be said that the state cannot be defeated by anyone who breaks the law,” he said.
