Flores del Este Deputy Regent Agus Payong Boli said hundreds of people were buried by landslides from Mount Ile Boleng to be precise in the village of Nele Lamadike, Ile Boleng district, which is right on the slopes of the mountain.

He said that according to the report by Nele Lamadike village chief Pius Sword, the landslide resulted in the deaths of dozens of people. In addition to human lives, dozens of houses were also buried by landslides.

“The latest information from the village head Nele Lamadike shows that dozens of residents have died. Dozens of bodies have been evacuated. Others are still in the process of being evacuated,” he told reporters on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

“We are now coordinating with PT Bumi Indah and CMK to immediately send heavy equipment in the form of an excavator to search for victims. There were victims who died in Nobo Village, because they were washed away by the flood,” he said.

In addition to the Ile Boleng sub-district, flash floods also washed away dozens of houses in Waiwerang, East Adonara. There were also several residents who were reported dead.

The head of the East Adonara sub-district, Damianus Wuran, said that the current condition could not yet report real data, because all access to the roads was completely paralyzed.
