Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Governor of Central Java (Central Java) Ganjar pranowo decided to increase the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in 2021 to Rp1,798,979. That figure is 3.27 percent higher than the 2020 Central Java UMP amount of Rp1,742,015.

“We have held meetings with various parties and listened to feedback. We have determined that the 2021 UMP for Central Java will increase to Rp1,798,979.12,” he was quoted as saying by Antara. Between, Friday (10/30).

Ganjar admitted that he did not follow the Circular of the Minister of Manpower (SE) Number M / 11 / HK.04 / 2020 on the Determination of the Minimum Wage 2021 during the Covid-19 Pandemic. For information, in the letter, Labor Minister Ida Fauziyah established that the minimum wage in 2021 is the same as in 2020.

“The Central Java UMP 2021 does not agree with the Minister of Manpower Circular issued yesterday, which basically says it does not increase or is equal to the UMP 2020,” he said. He said that to determine the increase in the UMP, his party referred to Government Regulation (PP) No.

Another consideration, he continued, was the result of the meeting with the Indonesian wage council, trade unions and employers’ association. Ganjar said that he had invited these parties to speak and provide input.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Central Java’s inflation in September was 1.42 percent (year-on-year). Meanwhile, economic growth was recorded at 1.85 percent for the same period. With this calculation, the rate of increase in wages is 3.27 percent.

“So there is an increase of 3.27 percent. This is what we are considering, so we set the PMU for Central Java 2021 at 1,798,979.12 IDR or an increase of 56,963.9 IDR.” said the man who is also a PDIP politician.

The number one person in Central Java emphasized that the decision on the amount of the Central Java UMP 2021 will apply to 35 districts / cities and should serve as a guide for the UMP to determine the respective UMK. He said that all districts / cities have until November 21 to compile their UMK.

“And this sentence can, which means it can be yes or no. Experience in Central Java, so far we don’t use UMP but UMK,” he said.

Earlier, in a statement issued on October 28, 2020, Ida Fauziyah said that up to 18 provinces agreed to follow the Wage SE provisions, that is, not to increase the minimum wage next year.

“According to the follow-up on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 4:35 p.m. WIB, various regions have held a meeting of the provincial wage council in preparation to determine the MW in 2021,” Ida said in a written statement.

The provinces that comply with the Ministerial Circular Letter are West Java, Banten, Bali, Aceh, Lampung, Bengkulu, Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and Central Sulawesi.

Also, Southeast Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, North Maluku, North Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and Papua.
