PR TASIKMALAYA – Even though he was born in Jakarta, Fadli Zon apparently has Minangkabau blood. Her parents, Zoh Harjo (late) and Ellyda Yatim, both came from Payakumbuh, West Sumatra.
Based on the information provided by Fadli Zon in his conversation with Helmy Yahya, he said that he was the nephew of Taufiq Ismail.
Starting when Fadli Zon spoke about the libraries he had in various places, he also mentioned that his uncle Taufiq Ismail inspired him to create a cultural house.

“In fact, there (Tanah Datar, West Sumatra-ed) my uncle Pak Taufiq Ismail made a poetry house, I was inspired to build a cultural house next door,” said Fadli Zon.
Furthermore, Helmy Yahya explained and confirmed that Fadli Zon was in fact Taufiq Ismail’s nephew.
“So anyone knows, some do not say that Fadli Zon is the nephew of a humanist, literary class 66, Taufiq Ismail,” Helmy Yahya explained.
Taufiq Ismail, who holds the title of Datuk Panji Alam, is an Indonesian poet and writer born in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra in 1935.
