Paris –
Neymar received a red card after being caught slapping Álvaro González. Neymar’s action was triggered after receiving racial abuse by Álvaro.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Marseille takes place at Parc des Princes, on Monday morning (9/14/2020) WIB. The home team lost 0-1 through Florian Thauvin in the 31st minute.
In this match, Neymar was involved in several contacts with Álvaro. It is not uncommon for the two players to get involved in discussions, but it is unclear what words came from Neymar and Álvaro.
The climax of the dispute between Neymar and Álvaro came in injury time. Dario Benedetto’s offensive on Leandro Paredes resulted in a push between the PSG and Marseille players. In the crowd, Neymar slapped Álvaro on the head.
The referee did not immediately sanction Neymar, but instead awarded two players from PSG (Layvin Kurzawa and Paredes) and Marseille (Jordan Amavi and Benedetto).
Not long ago, referee Jerome Brisard received a report from the VAR (video assistant referee) officer. In the replay, Neymar was caught slapping Álvaro, who was arguing with PSG players Paredes and Kurzawa.
The referee immediately sent a direct red card to Neymar. The Brazilian had complained about something to the referees before heading to the locker room.
Neymar expressed his frustration over the incident on social media. He regrets not fighting against the racial abuse that Álvaro has launched.
“The only thing I regret is not facing that scoundrel (Álvaro),” wrote Neymar on his personal Twitter account.
“VAR to capture my” aggression “is easy … now I want to see a racial image that calls me” MONO SON DE PUTA “(bastard monkey) … I want to see!” Neymar wrote in his second tweet.
The Marseille coach, Andre Villas-Boas, was asked about the incidents of Neymar and Álvaro. The former Chelsea manager did not know if there was racial abuse from the incident.
“I don’t know. I hope not, there is no place for racism in football. It is a serious problem if it happens, but I don’t think so. Previously, we had the situation with Ángel Di María’s saliva,” Villas-Boas said in a interview with Telefoot.
“These are things that must be avoided in the world of football. I hope it is not a black point in this historic performance,” he stressed.
