Jakarta –
Munarman and several people declared the United Islamic Front after the government officially banned the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI). The coordinating minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud Md, said this was allowed.
“Yes,” Mahfud said via text message on Thursday (12/31/2020). Mahfud’s answer was provided in response to the question whether the statement by Munarman et al from the Islamic United Front was allowed after the government banned the FPI.
The Islamic United Front was declared yesterday by several former FPI leaders on Wednesday (12/30). The statement from the Islamic United Front was conveyed through a written press release.
“Considering that to all administrators, members and supporters of the ISLAMIC DEFENDERS FRONT in Indonesia and abroad, in order to avoid insignificant matters and clashes with the dzalim regime, we hereby declare to the ISLAMIC UNIT FRONT to continue the fight to defend religion, nation and state accordingly, with Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, ”said the Islamic United Front.
The declarant from the United Islamic Front includes Munarman, formerly known as the FPI General Secretary and lawyer for Habib Rizieq. Besides Munarman, other names that became declarers were Habib Abu Fihir Alattas, Tb Abdurrahman Anwar, Ahmad Sabri Lubis, Abdul Qadir Aka, Awit Mashuri, Haris Ubaidillah, Habib Idrus Al Habsyi, Idrus Hasan, Habib Ali Alattas SH, Habib Ali Alattas S.Kom, Tuankota Basalamah, Habib Syafiq Alaydrus, Baharuzaman, Amir Ortega, Syahroji, Waluyo, Joko and M Luthfi.
All rejected the government’s decision as outlined in a Joint Decree (SKB) on the prohibition of FPI. They considered that the decree was contrary to the constitution.
“That because the Joint Decree violates the constitution and is against the law, in essence the Joint Decree has no legal force in terms of legality and legitimacy,” said the United Islamic Front.
