The Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI) responded to the plan to repatriate Habib Rizieq Shihab to carry out ‘tsaurah’ in Indonesia. MUI said these activities were welcome as long as they were in the hall of law.

Initially, MUI Vice President Muhyiddin Junaidi revealed that Habib Rizieq had a good record as a preacher. He said Habib Rizieq had the right to return to Indonesia.

“MUI considers IBHRS (High Priest Habib Rizieq Syihab) to be an Indonesian citizen who has the right to return to his country according to the constitution. He has never been involved in crime, crime, terrorism and separatism. His record is good as a preacher.” . Muhyiddin said when contacted, on Friday (10/16/2020).

The diction ‘tsaurah’ was found in the FPI press release on Habib Rizieq’s plan to return. The use of diction was lamented by the Indonesian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Agus Maftuh Abegebriel, because it was a translation of the revolution and could be interpreted as a coup.

In this regard, Muhyiddin said that the revolution should not leave the corridor of the law because it violates the state constitution. However, according to him, a revolution if carried out for the good and the truth is a noble task.

“The revolution of goodness and truth and maximizing the fight for peace is a noble task,” he said.

“What is prohibited is carrying out a revolution in violation of the state constitution and in violation of the rules of the game agreed by the state. As long as the fight is under the corridor of Indonesian law, nothing can prevent it,” Muhyiddin added.
