The Leadership Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Anwar Abbas, urged Indonesian Muslims to do boycott against the product French. This was done with the aim of pressuring the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to immediately apologize to Muslims around the world.
“We urge Muslims around the world to boycott all products originating in France,” Anwar said in an official statement on Friday (10/30).
Anwar also called on the Indonesian government to give a stern warning to the French government and to withdraw the time of the Indonesian ambassador in Paris until Macron retracted his words and apologized to Muslims.
According to him, Indonesian Muslims are ready to boycott French products, especially if Macron is not tolerant and does not respect Muslims. However, Anwar said that Muslims still want to live side by side and in harmony.
“Indonesian Muslims do not want to look for enemies, Muslims just want to live next to each other and in harmony, but if the French Head of State does not want and does not want to develop an attitude of tolerance and mutual respect, Muslims, especially in Indonesia They also have dignity and respect. Dignity willing to retaliate for their attitude and actions by boycotting all products from France, “he said.
He also asked French President Emmanuel Macron to stop all acts of harassment against Prophet SAW, especially cartoons and hate speech.
Furthermore, Anwar expressed his support for the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and its members who have boycotted all of France’s products.
“Supporting the position of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and its members like Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, Pakistan, Bangladesh that have boycotted all the products of the French state,” Anwar said.
Furthermore, MUI also urged the European Union court to immediately punish Macron for his actions that were deemed to have insulted the Prophet Muhammad.
“We urge the EU court to take immediate action and sentence France for the actions and attitudes of President Emmanuel Macron, who has insulted and harassed the great prophet Muhammad SAW,” he said.
