JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – In connection with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indonesian Ulema Council issued a fatwa that allowed Muslims to carry out Eid Al-Fitr Prayers 1 Shawwal 1441 Hijri at home.
This decision was made through a virtual meeting of the MUI Fatwa Commission in Jakarta.
Following is the statement by MUI Fatwa Commission Secretary Asrorun Ni’am Sholeh.
The High Priest of the Istiqlal Mosque, Nasaruddin Umar, said that the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council or MUI to exclude Friday prayers in anticipation of the crown, was the right decision.
Therefore, as Muslims, you must follow scholars and umarat.
The basic concepts or arguments used by the central MUI are very precise. Therefore, for us religious people, there is no way for us to do that except to follow our ulama and umarat, Nasaruddin said when giving a press conference (03/20/2020).
For the time being, for the next 2 weeks, the Istiqlal Mosque will not hold prayers on Fridays, in anticipation of the spread of the corona virus.
Today, for the next 2 Fridays, the istiqlal mosque, we will not use it for Friday prayers, Nasaruddin added.
The High Priest of the Istiqlal Mosque appealed to all Muslims to avoid activities that could cause the spread of the virus.
Previously, the Indonesian Ulema Council or the Indonesian Ulema Council issued the 2020 Fatwa Indonesian Ulema Council Number 14 on the implementation of worship in COVID-19 plague situations.
MUI recommends that people go home at home, as a way to anticipate the spread of the coronavirus.
