JOGLOSEMAR NEWS – The statement by the President of France on the cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad and Islam, which was delivered in early October 2020, has a long tail.
Several countries expressed their boycott of French products because of it. More recently, the Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI) has called for a boycott of French products.
This was a response to the attitude of French President Emmanuel Macron, who was seen as having insulted the Prophet Muhammad and Islam.

“MUI expresses its attitude and calls on the Indonesian Muslim Ummah and the world to boycott all products originating in France,” wrote one of the statements in a letter signed by MUI Vice President General Muhyiddin Junaidi and MUI Secretary General , Anwar Abbas.
Not only Indonesia, several countries in the Middle East also expressed a boycott of French products. The French Foreign Ministry, aware of this, also requested that the boycott of French products be stopped.
Quoted by Reuters’s KabarJoglosemar.com, the French Foreign Ministry considered the boycott of French products to be unfounded.
“The following calls are unfounded, minority-driven attacks on our country must be stopped,” the French Foreign Ministry said.
In Indonesia itself, various French products circulate widely in the community. Here are 20 frequently used French products.
