JAKARTA – The government has disbursed Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) at a wage subsidy of 1.2 million IDR to workers earning less than 5 million IDR. DKI Jakarta ranks first province with the highest social assistance outlay.
This is known from data on the launch of stage I wage / wage subsidy aid of 2.5 million workers and 3 million workers receiving wage / wage subsidy aid in phase II.
DKI Jakarta is in the upper range with the majority of workers receiving subsidized salary / wages, namely 1,071,414 workers or around 19.48%. The second to fifth rank is occupied by West Java (1,029,830 workers / 18.72%), Central Java (702,531 workers / 12.77%), East Java (560,670 workers / 10.19%) and Banten (455,193 workers / 8.28%).

“It is hoped that this wage subsidy can maintain and increase the purchasing power of workers and boost consumer spending. This will have a multiplier effect on economic growth and social welfare,” Menaker Ida Fauziyah said in a ministry press release. of Manpower in Jakarta, on Monday (7/9/2020).
Ida said that, through wage subsidies, the government wants to protect, improve and maintain the economy of workers from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Money that goes directly to the worker’s account can be spent based on needs, both primary and secondary.

“It would be better if the subsidized wages / salaries were spent on local products and MSMEs. So the local industry and UMKM will also be active,” he said.
At the same time, Ida also said that her party would continue to monitor and evaluate the distribution of wage subsidy aid. Therefore, the distribution process of the next stage is more satisfactory.
Wage subsidy assistance is provided to workers in the amount of Rp. 600 per month for four months. The distribution is done once every two months, that is 1.2 million IDR.
