Moeldoko camp spokesman Muhammad Rahmad said AHY’s proposed nomination to become Jakarta Cagub was to test his eligibility against incumbent Anies Baswedan.
“The DPP of the Democratic Party, Pak Moeldoko’s leadership, intends to nominate AHY for the second time as a candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta. It is necessary to test whether AHY’s level of popularity and eligibility can beat Anies Baswedan” Rahmad said in a written statement on Sunday (4/4/2021).

Rahmad claims that Moeldoko did not have a power orientation when he led the Democrats. However, he said, the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) wanted to save democracy and the Emas of Indonesia in 2024.
“Pak Moeldoko leads the Democratic Party, his orientation is not power. Pak Moeldoko’s orientation is to save democracy, save Golden Indonesia in 2024,” he explained.
Rahmad said that there are currently two Democratic leaders, namely under Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and Moeldoko. The Moeldoko Democrats agreed to decide this process in court after being rejected by the government.
