Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) spoke again about the local interventions that the provincial and city governments must make to implement a policy to restrict the pace of the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic.
This was stated by Jokowi when giving a briefing in a limited meeting on the subject of the discussion of the Report of the Committee on Management of Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery in the Merdeka Palace, the Presidential Palace complex.
“I need to convey to the committee that this local grassroots intervention should be passed on to the provinces, districts / cities,” Jokowi said on Monday (9/28/2020).
The local intervention that Jokowi refers to are microscale social constraints (PSBM), for example at the level of RT, RW, office or Islamic boarding school, which are considered more effective in suppressing transmission rates.
“I think it’s more effective. Repeated mini-blocks will be more effective,” he explained.
Jokowi admitted that he did not want a provincial or district / city government to hit the prevalence rate in his region, so he decided to strictly implement large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).
“Let’s not allow us to generalize a city, or a regency, and much less a province. This will harm a lot of people,” he said.
