Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Head of public relations Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the transfer of Muhammad Millendaru Prakasa Samudro alias Millen cyrus to a special holding cell to avoid unwanted things.
However, Yusri did not elaborate on the things that were avoided in relation to this transfer.
“We set up a special cell to anticipate unwanted things,” Yusri said when contacted on Wednesday (11/25).
Yusri only said that one of the reasons for the transfer was because the police had not yet received a court decision regarding Millen’s gender.
So far, the police have only relied on the gender listed on Millen’s identity card (KTP). At KTP, Millen registered as a male. On that basis, Millen was initially placed in a men’s holding cell at the Tanjung Priok Port Police.
“At this time, his KTP is a male KTP, while we are still awaiting the results of the statement that he is transgender. So, to avoid these things, we put him in his own cell,” he said.
Previously, Millen was arrested with her friend, JR, at a hotel in North Jakarta on Sunday (11/22) morning.
Based on the results of his urinalysis, Millen tested positive for methamphetamine use. He was named a suspect and detained in a men’s cell.
Millen’s location in the man’s cell drew criticism. One of them is the Institute for the Reform of Criminal Justice (ICJR), which thinks that Millen should be detained in a women’s cell because he expresses himself as a female gender.
Meanwhile, the head of the Tanjung Priok Port Police Narcotics Unit, AKP, Rezha Rahandhi, claimed that Millen had no problem with his location in the male holding cell.
“Actually, from Millen herself, no problem, because yeah, we just match our ID cards,” Rezha explained to reporters on Tuesday (11/24).
