KOMPAS.com – America’s boxing legend Mike Tyson admitted to being Muslim before going to prison.

This was expressed by Mike Tyson at the Mola Living Live event with the theme “Life lessons from the champion”, Friday (10/2/2020) WIB night.

Mola Living Life this time is very special because it is guided directly by the former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, Susi Pudjiastuti.

During the event, Susi Pudjiastuti asked about the life story of Mike Tyson when he was in prison from 1992 to 1995.

At the time, Mike Tyson had to be in jail because he was proven guilty of the 1991 rape of Miss Black America Desiree Washington.

While incarcerated, Mike Tyson reportedly converted to Islam and changed his name to Malik Abdul Aziz.

Regarding the story, Susi Pudjiastuti asked how Mike Tyson’s process came to know Islam until he finally converted to Islam while in prison.

When Susi Pudjiastuti was about to finish her question, Mike Tyson interrupted and immediately denied the truth of his story of converting to Islam in prison.

“That’s the wrong story. I was a Muslim before I went to prison,” said Mike Tyson.

“My belief has not changed so far. I believe what I believe. I am Muslim,” added Mike Tyson.

Also, Mike Tyson admitted that his life in prison was very boring.

However, Mike Tyson admits that he does not regret the fact that he had to live more than three years in bars.

Mike Tyson firmly admits that he has no regrets in life until he is 54 years old.

“Life in prison is very boring. It is not an interesting topic to talk about. I am more active in the cell,” said Mike Tyson.

“I’ve always lived freely until now. My freedom has never been taken away (due to my time in prison),” said Mike Tyson.

“I am grateful to have been incarcerated. I think it is a life lesson. Life is about learning,” said Mike Tyson.

After retiring in 2005, Mike Tyson, 54, is now preparing to return to the ring.

Mike Tyson is scheduled to face another former official, Roy Jones Jr., in an exhibition match on November 28, 2020.
