JAKARTA – KH Miftachul Akhyar officially replaced KH Ma’ruf Amin to lead Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI). Miftachul Akhyar was elected general president of the MUI for the period 2020-2025, based on the results of the X National Conference (Munas), which was held at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 26, 2020 by the night.
“President General KH Miftachul Akhyar,” said Fatwa Sector Commission session spokesman Asrorun Ni’am Sholeh in plenary session via a short message on Friday (11/27/2020).
KH Miftachul Akhyar is the Rais’ Aam of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) for the period 2018-2020. Kyai Miftah is also the manager of the Miftachus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya. He was then proposed as a Ketum MUI candidate for the 2020-2025 term.

Based on the results of the MUI X Training Team meeting that was hosted by MNC Media, the name of the Vice President of the Indonesian President, Ma’ruf Amin was elected as the Chairman of the Advisory Council (Wantim).
