BARCELONA – During the night, the operator of the Spanish League competition, La Liga, issued an official statement. He wrote on his official website that Lionel Messi could only leave Barcelona free in the 2020 summer transfer market if he redeemed his own buyout clause worth € 700 million or roughly 12.2 billion IDR.
The LaLiga statement comes after rumors about a clause that is being signed by Messi. On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, WIB, Messi sent a fax to the Barcelona address. In the fax that was written, Messi asked the Barcelona management to activate clause number 24 that he had contracted.

In the contract that is written, Messi can move out of Barcelona for free when his contract is one season remaining. Given that Messi’s contract with Barcelona runs until June 30, 2021, Messi should be able to leave for free in the summer of 2020.
However, there is a condition behind the previous clause. The first condition, when leaving Barcelona in the summer of 2020, Messi’s minimum age is 32 years. Then the second condition is that Messi must apply himself if he wants to leave Barcelona.
Messi can fulfill the two previous conditions, but not with the third condition. In the third condition, Messi is asked to present a resignation letter for a maximum of June 26, 2020, or 20 days when the 2019-2020 season ends.
Due to the corona virus pandemic, the competition schedule has been delayed. As a result, Barcelona only had their last match on August 15, 2020 after being defeated by Bayern Munich 2-8 in the 2019-2020 Champions League quarter-finals.
