jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that the Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (Mer-C) did not have a COVID-19 testing laboratory.
Also, Mahfud said, Mer-C is not an institution that can test for COVID-19.
“According to the records, Mer-C does not have a laboratory and is not registered with a network that has the authority to perform tests,” Mahfud said in an official statement posted on BNPB Indonesia’s YouTube account on Sunday (11/29).
For the record, Mer-C’s name was dragged into the case of Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab’s refusal to undergo a hyssop test by a team from the government’s health office of the Bogor city.
The team visited UMMI Hospital to provide assistance for the implementation of the swab test for Habib Rizieq Shihab on Friday (11/26). At the time, Rizieq was regaining her physical condition at UMMI Hospital.
However, UMMI Hospital said Habib Rizieq had been examined by his personal Mer-C physician for a swab.
From the case of rejection of the swab test, the representatives of the UMMI and the Mer-C Hospital would be summoned by the police to be questioned.
In addition, reports emerged of the failure of the Bogor city government health services team to conduct a swab test on Habib Rizieq.
