Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD admitted that it would bring cases of violence by the authorities in Intan Jaya, Papua, including the shooting of Pastor Yeremia Zanambani to court.

He also said that there was coincidence between the results of the investigation of the Joint Investigation Team of Intan Jaya (TGPF) and the National Human Rights Commission on the case.

“So the government does not discriminate based on the findings obtained by the joint investigation team, TGPF, which was formed by the Coordinating Ministry of Political, Legal and Security Affairs and also based on the findings of Komnas HAM,” he said, in his video statement on Friday (11/13).

“After the comparison, it turned out that there was a coincidence between the facts. So the government immediately took steps to be taken to court. Of course it must be gradual,” he continued.

He said this after meeting with the TNI Commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and the Army Chief of Staff, General TNI Andika Perkasa, on Thursday (11/12).

The discussion revolves around cases of violence that occurred in Intan Jaya, Papua. Including the case of shooting that killed Pastor Jeremiah Zanambani, September.

Mahfud said that Hadi and Andika confirmed that they began to take action against cases of violence involving TNI agents, one of which was the determination of the suspect by a TNI member for being involved in the fire of the House of the Health Service in Intan Jaya.

“Yesterday, thank God, I met with General Andika, the Army Chief of Staff and Pak Hadi Tjahjanto, the Commander-in-Chief,” Mahfud said.

According to him, the case of violence in Papua that will be brought to trial is the burning of the Health Service House.

“From the warrant or the burning of the Health Office house, the suspect has now been determined,” he said.

Still, Mahfud admitted that his party was not only focused on solving cases and arresting TNI suspects. It also continues to persecute separatist groups or armed criminal groups (KKB).

“Then also against people outside the TNI, namely the OPM, an independent Papuan organization, if we call it KSB, the separatist groups or armed criminal groups have also been hunting and the perpetrators have started to be arrested,” he said.

On that occasion, Mahfud also thanked Komnas HAM for conducting an independent investigation with results that were not different from those found by the government-formed TGPF.

Furthermore, in relation to Papua, Mahfud gave a message that all parties could keep Papua within the purview of the Republic of Indonesia.

“Whatever the end of the political differences, in the end it must remain the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia. From Sabang to Merauke, which includes Papua, it cannot be separated from the unitary republic of Indonesia,” he said.

Previously, the results of the TGPF Intan Jaya investigation mentioned the alleged participation of elements in the shooting of Pastor Yeremia.

Komnas HAM, which carried out a separate investigation, has more clearly revealed the identity of the person in the apparatus who shot Jeremiah, namely the military command deputy Hitadipa Alpius.

TNI itself said it was too early to conclude the case due to lack of evidence.
