JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Photos appear on social media showing the inscription and logo of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) during the evacuation due to flooding in Cipinang Melayu, Makassar, East Jakarta.
The photo was uploaded to a Twitter account @IB_FPI on Saturday afternoon (2/20/2021).
“The humanitarian post of the Front of the Islamic Brotherhood in Jalan Cipinang Melayu was dismissed by the police because there was an FPI inscription. How strange, what was prohibited was the Front of Islamic Defenders, not the Front of the Islamic Brotherhood. With help , opened a soup kitchen and brought in an evacuation team.“tulis @IB_FPI.

Makasar Police Chief Kompol Saiful Anwar confirmed that the incident took place on Saturday morning.
“We all know that the FPI, a banned organization in Indonesia, has been frozen. So yesterday they joined in the evacuation of the flood victims in Cipinang Melayu,” Saiful told Kompas.com, Sunday (2/21/2021).
Knowing that there was an attribute that said FPI, TNI-Polri prohibited the organization’s activities to evacuate residents.
“Wear the FPI logo, both the boat and the vest, the flag, the shirt, they all have the FPI logo. Because we know that it is a prohibited organization, we prohibit it,” Saiful said.
“They can help the community to evacuate the flood together with TNI-Polri, but they cannot use the FPI logo because it is a prohibited organization,” he said.
