It explained that state-owned valuables, including important assets and property, had never been registered as state property.

There are no books confirming that it is owned by the state.

“So state property is not administered, nor is it registered,” he said.

He said this had happened since the leadership of President Soeharto.

Although at that time Suharto led this nation for more than 30 years, that is, from March 12, 1967 to May 21, 1998.

“We just woke up. When Pak Harto woke up a lot, there were no books (state assets),” said the former managing director of the World Bank.

“So, when the crisis happened, we had the State Treasury and Treasury Law, we began to build a financial balance,” he continued.

In the accounting process, Sri Mulyani said that the first thing he did was register important assets that belong to the state.

He said that in the past, many state assets were easily bought and sold because their ownership was not registered.

“Not to mention the land. If the minister is happy, I want to sell the land, I will just sell the land,” he continued.

As a result, many important assets simply disappear.

“Because in the past there was no administration, so many republics lost quite a few strategic assets,” said the minister.

He gave an example of the Senayan complex that was built in the era of President Soekarno.

At that time Bung Karno built the Manggala Warna Bakti complex, TVRI, Hilton Hotel, Hotel Mulia, up to Plaza Senayan.

The entire area belongs to the state.

“One example you can see is the Senayan Gelora Bung Karno complex,” explained Sri Mulyani.

Still, the state lost its ownership status because it was never registered with the administration.

He gave an example from the area of ​​the Hilton Hotel that is now called the Sultan Hotel.

“Because it was never recorded, one day there was cooperation, suddenly the private sector already had a title,” said the former head of Bappoco.

“So when we did the books, the Hilton Hotel had no title. We were lost,” added Sri Mulyani.

He said the government should work hard to return the Hilton Hotel to the state, provided it can be used in collaboration with the private sector.
