Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The spokesperson and chair of the Covid-19 Working Group Expert Team, Wiku Adisasmito, stated that so far, the death cases in Indonesia remain higher than the world average. The Ministry of Health indicated that as of Thursday (08/10/2020) 11,580 cases or 3.6% of the total died.

Despite continuing to decline, the percentage of death cases in Indonesia is still above the global death rate, which is 2.91%. Wiku emphasized that the high national death rate should be a concern and joint efforts so that it can be lower than the global figure.

The Covid-19 Management Working Group also noted that of the existing cases of death, most of them occurred in the age group over 46 years. This means that the elderly group must be protected from infection.

“If there are positive symptoms of Covid-19, it must be properly managed for the recovery process to work well. Let us protect vulnerable ages together and do not invite them to travel,” Wiku said on Thursday (07/10/2020).

Groups of elders who are included in the vulnerable category should also be able to stay away from crowds and gatherings. They are also encouraged to do 3M, namely #pakaimasker, #jagajarak and #cucitangan. Family members are also encouraged to invite this group to do fun activities at home, get enough sleep, eat healthy and nutritious food, and adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle.

“All provinces must compete to improve covid-19 management services. We always invite all levels of society to contribute to the suppression of the Covid-19 case and improve recovery,” he said.

Wiku cited South Sulawesi and East Java as two provinces that could improve Covid-19 care services, and the results were positive this week.

Currently, the entire South Sulawesi and East Java region does not have a red zone and has moved to the orange zone, from the red zone. Weekly case development also decreased by 30.1% in South Sulawesi and 8% in East Java.
