YAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Srimulat graduate comedian Saparbe Notowidagno, also known as Pak Bendot, also became one of the popular soap operas Si Doel Schoolgirl.

In the soap opera, she plays the role of Mr. Bendot, according to his family greeting.

Pak Bendot is said to have been the father-in-law of Mas Karyo, played by the late Basuki.

Apparently, behind his performance, Mr. Bendot had a unique habit during the soap opera directed by Rano Karno.

Rano said that Mr. Bendot did not speak Indonesian.

The legendary comedian is easier to digest when communicating in Javanese.

Rano Karno said, many thought that Mr. Bendot could not read.

Although it is not the case.

“Mr. Bendot can really read. He only understands Javanese more than Indonesian,” Rano Karno said in a live stream on the Instagram account @sidoelanakschool on Sunday (05/03/2020) at night.

Because of this, Rano said, he and the production team translated various scenarios for Mr. Bendot into Javanese.

“Then I translate (stage) to Javanese (krama) Inggil, “said Rano Karno.

However, Rano continued, Mr. Bendot was able to play his role well.

“So since they are stage people, improvisation is good,” said Rano Karno.

Rano added that he had known Mr. Bendot for a long time, when Mr. Bendot was still part of the Srimulat comedy group with Basuki, Tarzan and friends.

Rano first met Bendot while filming together for a movie in Surabaya, East Java, in the early 1990s.

Bendot was born in Yogyakarta on August 20, 1925 and died in Jakarta on December 23, 2001.

Meanwhile, Kromo Inggil is the highest Javanese language, generally used to honor older or more knowledgeable people.

This language is the most refined Javanese language.
