Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD say broadcasting migration Analog tv to digital television or also known as analog shutdown (ASO) should be sped up.
“What is needed now is to accelerate the migration from analogue broadcasting to digital broadcasting, as up to now the countries of the world have implemented it,” Mahfud said while making his remarks at the national coordination meeting of the Broadcasting Commission of Indonesia (KPI) 2020 (Rakornas) held online. Monday (11/2).
Not only that, the former president of the Constitutional Court (MK) also said that the previous regulations governing the migration from analog transmission models to digital models should be the legal umbrella and reference for ASO in Indonesia.
According to Mahfud, this rule can facilitate the search for the best transmission system design when facing the migration from analog to digital models.
“Especially related to the institutional strengthening of KPIs in the regions, as well as preparations for the era of digitization of broadcasting that cannot be avoided,” he said.
The death of analog television itself is just waiting for President Joko Widodo to sign the Omnibus Act on Job Creation. This was transmitted by the Director of Broadcasting of the General Directorate of Post and Information Administration of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Geryantika Kurnia.
He said that the migration from analog television to digital television or analog shutdown (ASO) will shut down the use of analog television throughout Indonesia. The goal itself can be achieved in total in the next two years, as set out in paragraph 2 of article 60A of the Ciptaker Omnibus Act.
“The minister conveyed that ASO is 2 years old. So, for example, if the president signs on November 5, it means that Indonesia will stop broadcasting analog on November 5, 2022,” Gery said some time ago.
Although it is late compared to other countries and even ASEAN countries, this digital broadcast will support the development of the digital economy because it releases various frequencies that can be used for the benefit of the digital economy.
In short, the speed of the Internet is also accelerating due to the frequency freeing that analog television uses. With digital transmission, people no longer have to worry about blank areas or weak transmission signals that make the picture bad and shady.
Digital television continues to transmit images and sounds clearly as long as digital television receives the signal. The picture will remain good until the point where the signal can no longer be received, where the picture and sound will not appear.
On the other hand, people who still use analog TV need a tool called a set-top box (STB). STB is a digital television broadcast receiver that can be connected to an older television.
Meanwhile, digital television must also support digital video transmission: second-generation terrestrial (DVB-T2), which is an extension of the DVB-T digital standard that was previously established in 2007.
