Coordinating Minister of Investments and Maritime Affairs (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan together with the Indonesian ambassador to the United States, Muhammad Lutfi, met the president United States of America Donald trump at the White House in Washington DC on Tuesday (11/17).
During the meeting, Luhut conveyed his greetings and thanks from President Joko Widodo for Trump’s support for the Indonesian-US cooperation thus far. He also expressed special appreciation for the provision of GSP facilities by the United States Office of Trade Representation (USTR) to Indonesia.
During the meeting, Trump said Luhut also conveyed his greetings and thanks to Jokowi for Indonesia’s cooperation with the United States so far.
It also conveys a positive assessment of the growing economic ties between the two countries over the years.
In addition to meeting with Trump, US Vice President Mike Pence also welcomed Luhut into his office.
During the meeting, Pence offered a joint cooperation for vaccine production between US and Indonesian companies.
Luhut also met with National Security Advisor (NSA) Robert O’Brien. During the meeting, Luhut discussed the strategic partnerships between Indonesia and the United States in the fields of defense and technology, as well as exchanged views on global geopolitics.

“I, on behalf of President Joko Widodo, would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to President Donald Trump. Regardless of the official results of the US elections, the friendship is yet to be maintained,” he said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Wednesday ( 11/18).
Luhut said that Indonesia and the United States will always be friends.
“I also hope that good communication like this can be established with the White House after January 2021,” he said.
