Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Aviation industry players estimate that the strict rules for the New Year holidays may reduce the interest of tourists in flying to Bali. People often think that they have to pay for a PCR test that is not cheap, so the option to cancel or postpone the vacation may be an option.
As is known, as of December 18, 2020, air passengers going to Bali must have PCR, while ground passengers must take an antigen test. This provision will expire on January 4, 2021.
The secretary general of the Indonesian National Air Carriers Association (INACA), Bayu Sutanto, sees that this stricter regulation is aimed at reducing the rather high transmission rate of last month. However, he considered the office group to be the largest contributor to the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia.
“But this rule is likely to reduce interest in traveling during the end of the year holidays, we will see later,” he said. CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (12/16).
However, according to Bayu, of course there are people who believe in traveling and there is no problem with mandatory PCR which is not cheap. He assessed that there are people who have planned and bought tickets like it or not, they have to follow the mandatory PCR rules if they want to fly to Bali. The movement of people through air transport services in Bali and nationally has continued to increase.
Data from the Central Statistical Agency (BPS), the number of national departure passengers in October reached 600,861 people, an increase over the previous month that was only 499,930. Meanwhile, Ngurah Rai Airport also saw an increase in October to 99,469 passengers from 80,930 passengers in the previous month.
The vice president of the Committee for the Management of Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery, General TNI (Purn) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, ordered the travel requirements adjusted to Bali, forcing tourists who wish to enter Bali to take a PCR test and a rapid H-2 antigen test prior to departure.
“We ask that tourists boarding a plane bound for Bali must undergo the H-2 PCR test before flying to Bali and require the rapid H-2 antigen test before traveling overland to Bali,” Luhut said.
This has also been welcomed by a circular from the Governor of Bali on the same matter. Bali Governor Wayan Koster published circular number 2021 of 2020 on the implementation of community activities during the Christmas holidays and welcoming the new year 2021 in a new era of life in the province of Bali.
Earlier, I had Ramia Adnyana, Vice President of the Indonesian Central Executive Board Hotel General Managers Association (DPP IHGMA), state that various groups officially canceled their trips to Bali after the news.
“Before there were some who canceled, groups or families who should have canceled their vacations at the end of December. This is a complaint for my friends,” he told CNBC Indonesia on Tuesday (12/15).
