LIVERPOOL – Liverpool won the 2020-2021 Premier League Premier League match, but it was won with difficulty. Liverpool fought hard to win 4-3 over last season’s Championship Division champions Leeds United at Anfield Stadium on Saturday 12 September 2020 at 23.30 WIB.

Leeds were surprisingly capable of upsetting the defending Premier League champions. The game against Leeds showed that Liverpool’s defense was not as strong as the first half of last season.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold all fought off the Leeds attacks. Van Dijk, who is said to be the best defender in the world, made a mistake against Leeds. Van Dijk’s mistake in the 30th minute resulted in a goal for Leeds forward Patrick Bamford.

However, the fragility of Liverpool’s defense is not the fault of Van Dijk, Gomez, Robertson and Trent entirely, but of all Liverpool players. Every Liverpool player is responsible for helping the team keep a clean sheet.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted that Liverpool’s defense was fragile against Leeds, but there was a reason for that. Klopp said the players were not in good shape after fulfilling international duty to their respective countries.

Klopp also understands what happened in the Liverpool defense. Klopp considered it natural for this to happen, especially in the first competitive match. Still, Klopp confirmed that there will be improvements before the next game.

“What a game, great rivals, what performance both teams have. The show is correct, I like it, “Klopp said. Sky sports, to quote from BBC, Sunday (9/13/2020).

“Very few times you see many goals in a game, we have room for improvement in our defense but it is not strange for the first game. Our players played a few days ago for their country so it could happen,” he said.

Klopp has a job to do to clear up Liverpool’s defensive woes. Without a strong defense it will be difficult for Liverpool to defend the Premier League title and fight in other competitions.

Liverpool will continue their campaign this season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 20 September 2020 at 10.30pm WIB. The big game will be a real test for Liverpool.
