Liverpool are very cautious with RB Leipzig after being drawn to meet in the knockout stages of the Champions League. Leipzig previously managed to get rid of Manchester United.
The Champions League draw in the round of 16, on Monday night (12/14/2020), WIB brought together Liverpool and Leipzig. Leipzig is having a good season so far.
Julian Nagelsmann’s team finished runners-up in Group H, after beating Manchester United and losing only to Paris Saint-Germain. Leipzig secured qualification with a 3-2 win over United on Matchday 6, avenging a 5-0 loss at Old Trafford in the opening match.
In the Bundesliga, Leipzig advanced as the challenger of champions. They are currently in third place, just one point behind Bayer Leverkusen and only lose on goal difference from Bayern Munich.
Liverpool realize the great threat that Leipzig is, especially in the two knockout stage matches, which can be determined in small details.
“They are third in the league, they have only lost once in the Bundesliga so far so this will be a very difficult match. When they face Manchester United it will be two different matches,” said Liverpool ambassador Ian Rush.
“At Manchester United, United played very well, so Leipzig knew they had to beat them at home. They took care of that, they did well.”
“So at this knockout stage, the challenge will be more difficult. They know what they have to do now,” added Liverpool’s top scorer.
