London –
Leicester City managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur. However, the victory was accompanied by news of Jamie Vardy’s injury. Duh!
Leicester surprised by visiting Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (12/20/2020) WIB night. Despite having a poor record against Tottenham, Leicester were able to return home with three points.
After winning at the end of the first half thanks to a Jamie Vardy penalty, Tottenham doubled the lead thanks to Toby Alderweireld’s own goal that deflected Vardy’s header into his own goal.
Leicester won 2-0 and Vardy proved once again that he deserves to be trusted by his team to score goals, even though he is 33 years old.
Vardy has scored 19 goals in his last 19 away games, including 11 in the Premier League this season. Unfortunately, Vardy was unable to finish the match and had to be replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho in the 88th minute.
Vardy reportedly had another groin problem, an injury that has affected him this season. This injury made him hesitant to appear on Boxing Day at home to Manchester United next week.
Regarding the news, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers said he was not worried and was confident that Jamie Vardy would recover this week. Also, Leicester will not appear in the Premier League Cup so they have more time off.
“Same (groin) injury, but the good thing is we have a bye week. We really don’t have a lot of free time this season. This will give him time to recover and hopefully he can play next week,” Rodgers was quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
Leicester City are now in second place in the standings with 27 points, one point ahead of Manchester United in third place.
