Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – Government declares foreign workers (TKA) origin China so the priority of mineral refining and processing factories or smelters in Morosi, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, because local workers do not have experience in the installation of these companies.

According to presidential spokesman for Legal Affairs Early Purwono through written statements, 500 Chinese TKAs were brought in because they have special experience in setting up foundry factories.

“The use of external labor is forced by the company because local workers have no experience installing the facility. If the installation is completed, this processing and refining plant can absorb 3,000 local workers,” said Dini el Monday (11/5).

The company, Dini continued, aimed that the 500 TKA would only work for a maximum of six months and, once the installation was completed, they would return to their countries of origin. During his work, the Chinese TKA was also asked to transfer his experience to a local workforce.
Currently, he said, the Ministry of Human Resources is coordinating with the Governor and the Legislative Council of Southeast Sulawesi to find the best solution so that these foreign workers can continue working in Indonesia.

“Therefore, they coordinate with each other because, on the one hand, Covid-19’s prevention efforts are sustained, and on the other hand, a project that can absorb 3,000 local workers can also work because it involves the livelihood of many people. “, said.

The central government said that until now Chinese foreign workers have not yet arrived in Indonesia. Foreign workers can only enter if the situation related to the Covid-19 corona virus pandemic has improved.

The Ministry of Human Resources, according to Dini, was only at the approval stage of the request for a Plan for the Use of Foreign Workers submitted by two companies.

“The government is determined to break the Covid-19 distribution chain by limiting the flow of people arriving from abroad. This policy applies to normal situations and is declared safe,” said Dini.

If foreign workers arrive later, they will still have to perform a series of tests and health protocols to make sure they are free of the Covid-19 virus.

“All TKAs must follow a series of tests and health protocols,” Dini said.

Previously, the provincial government and the Southeast Regional Sulawesi House of Representatives rejected a central government plan that wanted to bring 500 foreign workers from China to its territory. The plan is that hundreds of TKAs will be placed in nickel refineries or smelters in Morosi, Konawe Regency, Sulawesi Southeast.

The rejection was broadcast because many Indonesian citizens lost their jobs during the Corona crisis. Furthermore, the arrival of foreign citizens will potentially transmit the corona virus. (pris / gil)
