KPK reveals the main factor of corruption in Indonesia, it turns out that this is the culprit

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Vice Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission Nurul Ghufron said that corruption in Indonesia is not just an individual or personal problem, but a systemic problem.

He said that the problem of corruption is mainly due to the high cost of the political system in Indonesia.

“The current reading of the KPK is that the criminal act of corruption is not a personal disease, it is not just a personal disease, but a systemic problem. The most determining factor in the birth of corruption is the high cost political factor in Indonesia. “Ghufron said in the broadcast of the Anti-Corruption Summit-4 on the KPK YouTube Channel, Wednesday (11/18/2020).

He said the high-cost policy resulted in state administrators who were elected through elections looking for ways to “cover costs.”

As a result, state administrators are not focused on serving the public, but are busy selling and buying state authorities, facilities, and finances.

“When you occupy a political position because of high costs, then you are motivated to return your capital, when you are motivated to return the capital, what happens is to sell your position, authority, facilities and state finances,” Ghufron said.

This is known based on the handling of corruption cases carried out by the KPK so far. According to him, the level of democracy in Indonesia is relatively good.

Supposedly, the more democratic a country is with transparent governance, it has an impact on the lower levels of corruption. However, in fact, the level of corruption in Indonesia remains high today.

“Ideally, democracy is improving, people find more and more good leaders with integrity so that the hope of corruption is less,” he said.
